Rad says “College is fun!”

The top ten-ish rules of college:

Waking up early sounds better at night than in the morning. (Don’t kid yourself; even with bundles of willpower and infinite ambition, you’re not getting out of bed until twenty minutes before your first class begins. And when did 10:10 a.m. become early? Doesn’t anyone remember being at high school by 7:30 in the morning?)
You can’t domesticate squirrels. I’ve tried.
You’re not kidding anyone. We know you stink at beer pong.
Political science and biology are college majors. Pre-law and pre-med are not. No, this naming system would make far too much sense.
A Mike Hart jersey, jeans, and Pumas do not meet the criteria of “business casual.”
A burrito is not to be used as a weapon in hand-to-hand combat. Right, Rad?
If you really want to start conversations and invoke accusations of sketchy-ness, bring a backpack to your next social gathering (e.g., house party, block party, bar, fraternity blowout). Good times for all.
Two grown men should not share a bean bag for sleeping unless under extraordinary circumstances. “Visiting for the weekend” does not constitute extraordinary circumstances.
Your iPod will either be broken, lost, and/or stolen. It’s fate. Don’t fight it.
You will notice after attending a home football game on a sunny afternoon that one half of your face is sunburned whilst the other half is still pale white. This is not a mark of embarrassment. This a badge of fandom.
On the first day of class, laugh at the people who furiously write down in their notes their professor/GSI’s office hours. It’s in the syllabus and online, Dummies. And chances are you won’t go anyway.
Your $168 economics textbook will be suspiciously “updated” the moment you try to sell it back to the bookstore, providing a valuable, real-life lesson in free markets.

A young monk, new to the monastery, noticed that the scribes were copying the scriptures from copies, not originals. He expressed his concern to the abbot that any mistakes in the copies would be passed on, and the scriptures would become corrupted. The abbot replied that this is the way it had always been done but the point was valid, and he would check it out. He descended into the vaults to look over the originals, and he was gone a long time. With some concern, the young monk went looking for him and found him sobbing with abandon, his tears pouring upon his frock. “What is the matter, my good abbot?” asked the monk, to which the abbot choked out, “In the original, the word was ‘celebrate’!”
